Torbay residents encouraged to get their blood pressure checked

Torbay Council are promoting free events across the bay, encouraging residents to find out their blood pressure and learn how to manage their heart health.

High blood pressure is a major cause of heart attacks and strokes, but it can be treated.

'Knowing your numbers!' is key to living a longer, healthier life.

Here are the events taking place! 

Paignton Library - Weekdays 10:00am - 1:30pm

Engaging Communities South West are offering free blood pressure and BMI readings.

Paignton Library - Launches Tuesday 3 September

Free scheme allowing residents to loan a blood pressure monitor.

Scala Hall, Brixham - Thursday 5 September 10:00am - 12:00pm

Happy Hearts peer-support group are hosting a coffee morning with blood pressure checks on offer.

Paignton Library - Thursday 5 September 9:30am - 12:30pm

Free blood pressure checks and health screening are being carried out by local GP Dr John McGuinness and Pharmacist Josh Coulson at Paignton Community Hub.

Torre Abbey Meadows - Saturday 7 September 11:00am - 6:00pm and Sunday 8 September 2:00pm - 5:00pm

Your Health Torbay will have a stall at Torbay Pride! They'll be taking blood pressure readings, and have nutritionists and healthy lifestyle advisors on hand to chat to attendees.

Warbro Road - Saturday 21 September 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Community pharmacists are offering free blood pressure checks before Torquay United vs St Albans City. Your Health Torbay will also be there to offer lifestyle advice.
