Businesses, community organisations, community interest companies and charities across Teignbridge can now apply for grants between £3,000 and £20,000 to help reduce their carbon footprint.
Around £750K is available to help businesses buy and install equipment to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions within their workplace. Types of equipment include LED lighting, low energy heat systems, heat pumps, solar panels and double/triple glazing of windows and doors.
Previous funding, totalling in the region of £400k, has helped Teign Valley Community Hall fit smart new thermally efficient doors and windows and Danceworks Devon to install wi-fi controlled infrared heaters in their studio.
Grants cover 80% of the cost for businesses and 100% for community organisations, charities and not for profit organisations. Businesses submitting applications for solar panels can claim 50% of the costs capped at £10,000. Grants will be paid in arrears.
The closing date for applications is noon on Monday 12 August. Businesses and organisations applying for the grant are advised to obtain a decarbonisation plan or energy assessment of their business before submitting their application as this will score higher in the assessment process.
Grant awards are part of a competitive application process which will be scored against several criteria.
