Stover Country Park will be hosting an Outdoor Careers Taster Day for young people aged 16-25 next month.
The event on Thursday 6 June is part of the three-year Restoring Stover Park Project. The first year of the project has been completed, and a range of improvements are underway, including the extension of the visitor centre, development of a community workshop, and the de-silting of Stover Lake.
The contractors currently on site have been selected via our procurement process, a key part of which asks how they can help us with our “corporate parent” role supporting young people leaving care.
Following discussions with our contractors, it was decided we would create a one-off careers taster day, to provide all young people (aged 16-25) with the opportunity to meet three different companies and participate in three themed sessions, rotating around the following careers: Construction with Skinner Construction Ltd and South West Norse, De-Silting / Dredging with Murlac Ltd, and Building Surveying with Savills (UK) Ltd.
The Taster Day will be on Thursday 6 June, from 10am-3.30pm. The Restoring Stover Park Project can assist with travel costs, and lunch is provided on the day.
There are limited spaces so please let the team know if you would like to attend. Contact details: Please ring Emily on 07816 369083 or e-mail: restoringstoverpark@devon.gov.uk
