In local rugby on Saturday in the Regional One South West Devonport Services were crowned champions but Exmouth Cockels losing streak continues after they were well beaten by Cornish side Launceston 44-5 at Polson but Brixham had a runaway victory over relegation threatened West Devon side Okehampton by 87 points to 12 at Anstey Park.
In Regional Two Sidmouth confirmed their promotion with a comfortable 64-26 win over Newton Abbot at Rackerhays and Crediton moved up to second place with 56-41 victory over fellow high flyers Topsham at Exhibition Road and Cullompton improved their league position with comfortable 37-17 home win over Teignmouth at Stafford Park.
In Counties One Western West Tiverton moved a step closer to promotion with a 24-7 victory over host Bideford while Paignton kept up the pressure at the top by beating visiting Pirates Amateurs 43-24 at Queen's Park.
In Counties Two Devon, after an even first half Honiton upped the pace and ran out 48-8 winners against out of form Withycombe at Allhallows, Exeter Saracens beat visiting Devonport Services Second Fifteen 27-15 at the Exhibition Fields with Torquay Athletic hammering Exmouth Quins 59-7 at the Recreation Ground.
Finally in Counties Three Devon North and East New Cross were given a home walkover against Okehampton Seconds and Tiverton Second Fifteen beat Exeter Athletic 22-0 at Bolham Road.
