In local rugby on Saturday in the regional one south west division Exmouth Cockles lost to Cornish side Camborne by 39 points to 30 at Imperial Road and once again it was a game with the result in doubt until the final stages.
In regional two west Sidmouth move up to third in the table after their h ugh 56-14 victory over Teignmouth at Bitton park which leaves the home side still looking for their first win while Crediton go second after they defeated Chard 17 - 3 at Exhibition Road.
In Counties one western west Cullompton remain top after their convincing away win by 38-3 over Cornish side Bude at Bencolan and Topsham kept up the pressure in second place with a close 13 point to 10 victory over south ham's side Kingsbridge at High House, Tiverton also improved their league position with a 36-24 win at Queen's park over home side Paignton.
Finally in the Counties 2 Devon league Withycombe had to dig deep to pull off a close 15-13 victory at Taw Meadow over host North Tawton who still remain winless, but better news for Honiton who got their first win of the season with a 50 point to 27 over visitors Ivybridge second fifteen at Allhallows but Exmouth second string were hammered by league leaders Tavistock 66-7
