In local football on Saturday in the Southern league one south Exmouth Towns poor run of results continued when they were beaten 3-1 by visitors Malvern Town at Southern Road. After taking the lead through Ben Steer they fell away badly after the break and must now regroup for next weeks away visit to Yate Town in the search for much needed points to pull away from the relegation zone.
All our local Peninsula league sides were engaged in WPC league Cup games with Axminster Town moving into the next round with a 3-2 victory over Bovey Tracey at Tigers Way , Crediton Utd had a comfortable 4-1 win at Cornish side St Dennis and Teignmouth fc overcame visitors Dobwalls afc 3-1 at Coombe Valley. However Sidmouth Town were knocked out going down 2-1 at Manstone Lane to Wendron Utd .
In the A&S Devon league Ottery St Mary were held to a 1 all draw by visiting Bere Alston Utd at Washbrook Meadow and Beer Albion also drew by the same score at home to North Molton. Budleigh Salterton had a comfortable 3-0 victory over Ipplepen Athletic at Greenway Lane while Topsham Town lost 4-1 to Plymouth side Lakeside Athletic at the Coronation ground.
In the Devon and Exeter league premier division Upottery managed a scoreless draw at Clyst Valley but Colyton were beaten at Exeter University second eleven by 3 goals to 2.
In division one Lympstone lost 2-1 to Ottery St Mary reserves at the Marine Camp but East Budleigh beat Wellington second eleven 3-2 at the playing fields and in division two Tipton St John were well beaten 5-1 at home to Exeter side Heart of Oak fc.
Finally in division 6 Axmouth Utd won comfortably over Beacon Knights by 3 goals to 0 at George V playing fields
