Local football report from the weekend

In local football on Saturday in the Southern division one south Exmouth Town lost their fourth league game in a row when they were beaten 1-0 at Frome Town who scored the only goal of the game after 18 mins.

Town were unlucky to lose goalkeeper Robbie Powell to injury early on and replacement Rowe did well to keep the score down with several chances for an equaliser narrowly missed.

In the Peninsula league east Sidmouth Town lost 1-0 to visiting Newton Abbot Spurs at Manstone lane and Axminster town were well beaten 4-0 by league leaders Okehampton Argyle at Tigers way but Crediton Utd kept up the pressure at the top with a 2-0 victory over Dartmouth Utd at Lord's Meadow. Honiton Town lost in a 10-goal thriller at Torridgeside FC eventually going down by 7 goals to 3 but Teignmouth were worthy winners with a 3-1 victory over bottom club Bridport fc at Coombe Valley.

In the FA vase Cullompton were knocked out at western league side Buckland Athletic by 5 goals to 1.

In the A &S Devon league leaders Beer Albion had an easy home victory over bottom club Fremington by 5 goals to 1 and Budleigh Salterton improved their league position beating Barnstaple second eleven 4-1 Greenway Lane, but Topsham Town lost 4-1 at North Molton and Ottery st Mary were thrashed 10-2 in north Devon by Appledore.

In the Devon and Exeter league premier division Dawlish Utd lost 5-1 at Kentisbeare but Colyton easily beat Okehampton Argyle reserves 7-0 at Simmons Park.

In division one East Budleigh beat Topsham Town reserves 9-1 at the Coronation ground and Upottery had a comfortable 6-1 victory over visitors Winkleigh ,while in division 2 Exmouth Spartan's easily beat Dunkerswell 8-3 at the Commons ground pitch 2 with Tipton st John going down 2-0 at home to St Martin's.

In the seventh division Exmouth Rovers lost their 100% record when they were surprisingly beaten 2-1 by City Raiders second eleven also at the Commons on pitch 1.

Finally in the East Devon senior cup Lympstone Utd were knocked out by Elmore reserves 5-4 on penalties after being locked at 3 all at full time at the Marine camp
