A look ahead to this weekends football action
In local football on Saturday, after last weeks disappointing away defeat in the F A Cup at Falmouth by 2 goals to 1 Exmouth Town start their new Southern league one south season with a home game against Evesham Utd at Southern Road hoping to copy last year's result when Town won 4-1.
In the Peninsula league east Crediton Utd play host to Plymouth side Elburton villa at Lords Meadow and Cullompton Rangers take on near neighbours Honiton Town at Speeds Meadow. Axminster Town start their campaign with the long trip to South Devon to play Dartmouth Utd, Teignmouth afc visit Simmons Park to play much fancied Okehampton Argyle and Sidmouth Town travel to take on newly promoted Stoke Gabriel and Torbay police combined at Churchward memorial ground.
In the newly revised A&S Devon league Beer Albion start their season with a home fixture against Plymstock Utd , Topsham Town entertain North Molton at the Coronation ground, Budleigh Salterton travel to Plymouth to play students Marjons and Ottery st Mary go the shorter distance to play Elmore Utd at Horsdon park.
Although there are a few friendly encounters league fixtures do not start in the Devon and Exeter leagues until next weekend.
