In the Tolchard Devon Cricket league on Saturday Sidmouth beat Hatherleigh away by 60 runs in their crucial penultimate game to all but mathematical secure their place in the premier division for next season .
Batting first they reached 218 all out and with a good performance from their bowlers removed the home side for just 158 with 6 overs remaining.
In the A division Exmouth beat Thorverton by 102 runs at station road to secure at least runners up spot .
Batting first they found runs hard to come by but thanks to an 8 wicket stand of 54 they reached 163 for 8 in their 50 overs and then another excellent bowling performance dismissed the host for just 61 runs in less than 23 overs but Budleigh Saltertons promotion hopes were dealt a fatal blow when they lost to second placed Plympton by 63 runs at Ottermouth , chasing the 244 set by the visitors they could only manage 181 all out .
In the B division Clyst st George easily beat Ipplepen at the Bohea by 9 wickets and seal promotion. Bowling the visitors to just 129 in 33 overs the home side easily knocked off the required runs with the loss of just one wicket in less than 22 overs but Cullompton narrowly lost in a close game beaten by just 2 runs at Bovey Tracey second eleven. In the C division East no results are yet to hand for Ottery st Mary or Otterton
