In local cricket on Saturday in the Devon premier League Exmouth moved up to third in the table after a 38 run victory in a close fought game against lowly Paignton at the Maer ground, Sidmouth lost by 79 runs at the Fortfield ground to second placed Sandford but Exeter had a good 38 run win at Tiverton based side Heathcoat .
In division A Plymouth convincingly beat visiting Torquay/ Kingskerswell by 6 wickets at Mount Wise while Abbotskerswell's game at North Devon was abandoned .
In the B division Clyst St George lost by 3 wickets to second placed Stoke Gabriel at the Bohea, leaders Barton won by 41 runs against Ipplepen at Moor road , Budleigh Salterton convincingly won by 9 wickets at Kate Brook sports ground home of Chudleigh. Cullompton had a 7 wicket win in North Devon again Bideford/Westward Ho! but Teignmouth Shaldons game with Bovey Tracey second eleven was abandoned .
In division C east Seaton were well beaten by 6 wickets in North Devon by Braunton at the Kelsey ground, Ottery St Mary lost by just 1 wicket to visiting Heathcoat second eleven at Strawberry lane but Alphington Countess Wear/easily beat Budleigh Salterton second's by 9 wicket's at the Holt. Finally In the D division East Topsham St James lost by 27 runs to Whimple in a low scoring game at the University sports ground but Upottery beat home side Shobrooke park by 32 runs.
