In the Tolchard Devon Cricket League on Saturday Sidmouth were narrowly beaten in the Premier Division by visiting North Devon by one wicket at the Fortfield Ground, electing to bat first they reached a modest 210 runs in their 50 overs and the visitors just managed to reach their total scoring 211 for 9.
In the A Division after their defeat at Exeter last week Exmouth got their home season underway with a victory over Torquay at the Mear, batting first they reached 230 all out thanks mainly to a a stand of 115 between Dan Pyle and Findlay Marks for the third wicket and with a excellent performance from the bowlers the visitors were then all out for just 115 runs.
In the same division Budleigh Salterton won by 99 runs at new boys Thorverton, scoring 251 for 9 in their 50 overs, they then bowled the home side out for just 152.
In Division B Clyst St George lost by 78 runs at Ivybridge, chasing the home sides 238 for 7 they were all out for 160 while in the C Division East Ottery St Mary had an unusual drawn game at Heathcoat Second Eleven with both teams finishing on 246 runs.
