British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships
Sunday sees the Beach Sprint Championships where after a time trial for places, crews race head-to-head, starting on the beach and sprinting to their boats, held in the water by their boat-holders. The two crews then slalom out to sea around two buoys for 250m before turning around the final marker buoy for a straight sprint back to the shore. When they reach land, one member of the crew will jump out of the boat and sprint up to the beach to cross the finish line. This format of event uses pool boats, solos and doubles, supplied by the organising committee. This exciting competition is knock-out racing until a champion is crowned for each boat class.
Boat classes
The following boat classes will be raced:
- Open (O) CO1x, CO2x, CO4x+, COMasD 4x+
- Women (W) CW1x, CW2x, CW4x+, CWMasD 4x+
- Mixed (Mix) CMix2x
Boats for the Offshore Championships may be left on-site as the movement of boats onto and off the beach is restricted to certain time periods as it is open access to the public. During the British Rowing Offshore Championships, there will be 24-hour security for all boats and equipment left on site.
Information relating to the drop off time for boats will be shared nearer the event.
Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of the events.
