Sidmouth police team up with Trading Standards for public advice session

PCs Tom Driver and Ross Buckler, along with Police Community Support Officer Sarah Reece, are always happy to speak to local people and answer any queries or concerns they may have. They will be at Sidmouth Library between 2 & 4pm on Wednesday 6 November.

The busy Sidmouth Neighbourhood Police Team will be continuing to support local events and engage with communities in the run up to Christmas.

PCs Tom Driver and Ross Buckler, along with Police Community Support Officer Sarah Reece, are always happy to speak to local people and answer any queries or concerns they may have.

The team are taking part in an event with colleagues from Trading Standards from 2pm-4pm at Sidmouth Library on Wednesday 6 November and everyone is welcome. The event venue is in Blackmore Drive and there will be information available about financial scams, romance scams, fraud, as well as the Devon and Cornwall Alert system and advice about preventing shoplifting. Officers will also be explaining more about the Herbert Protocol, which is a national scheme used by police and other agencies whereby carers keep details about vulnerable people which may then be used if the person goes missing.

PC Tom Driver said: “This event is for anyone who wants to come along with questions or receive some help and advice on a certain subject. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible on 6 November at the library.”

You can also see the Sidmouth police team out and about at the sparkling Newton Poppleford Bonfire and fireworks evening event on Friday 8 November and they will be mingling with the crowds at the Sidmouth Christmas lights switch on and festive late-night shopping event from 5pm on Saturday 16 November.

PC Driver added: “This is always a busy time of year and we enjoy meeting residents and visitors in Sidmouth and surrounding areas. We carry out as many high visibility foot patrols as we can and want the community to feel reassured and safe that we are here for them”.
