Recently, the Exeter Neighbourhood Team conducted a warrant at an address in Alphington, issued by Exeter Magistrates Court, in relation to offences under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Police have worked in conjunction with the RSPCA, with support and assistance from several other agencies.
29 animals, including cats and reptiles were removed from the property, due to being assessed as either ‘suffering or likely to suffer if left at the property’.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the animals are now in the care of the RSPCA, who will provide the medical attention that the animals need to get them back to health. The RSPCA will now be taking the lead on this investigation with specialist staff to ensure the best outcome for all involved.
Police rely upon the support and information provided by local communities and our partner agencies. If you have any immediate concerns about a person’s treatment of animals, please contact the Police. For non-urgent queries and advice, refer to the RSPCA (https://orlo.uk/oMe59) for further guidance.
