Police are investigating a suspicious incident in Exeter and are urging any witnesses to come forward.
Officers responded to a report of a man acting suspiciously in the Exhibition Fields area, located between Exhibition Way and Beacon Heath, at approximately 2:45 pm on Thursday, February 27. It was reported that the man approached a mother pushing her children in a pram, assaulted her, and then fled the scene.
Authorities are asking anyone who was in the park between 1 pm and 3 pm on Thursday, February 27, to report any suspicious activity they may have witnessed.
Detective Inspector Dave Ireland commented, "Understandably, incidents like this can cause distress and concern in the community, though such events are rare. We are continuing our investigations, and members of the public will notice an increased police presence in the area."
"We encourage anyone who saw something unusual during that time or has CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage to come forward and assist with our enquiries."
A man in his 30s from the Exeter area has been arrested in connection with the incident but has been released on bail pending further investigation.
