Pennon hosted its latest customer engagement meeting in Sidmouth last week to hear customers’ thoughts and discuss the company’s record investment plans.
Held quarterly at different locations across the region, the latest WaterShare+ session saw customers take a tour around Sidmouth’s Wastewater Treatment Works to understand the journey of wastewater, before having the chance to share their views how the company and its water businesses – including South West Water – are run.
Pennon’s unique WaterShare+ scheme offers its customers a stake in the business so they can share in the company’s performance. Nearly 100,000 shares have been issued, with one in 14 customers currently shareholders, and Pennon has ambitions plans to make that one in ten by 2030.
South West Water’s Director of Natural Resources, Carolyn Cadman, gave a presentation to customers about local investment plans for Sidmouth, details of the company’s award-winning catchment management programme, Upstream Thinking, and the record £3.2 billion investment plans for the wider region between 2025 and 2030.
This investment will help deliver on customer’s top priorities – continuing to secure safe, clean drinking water, reducing the use of storm overflows and protecting the environment.
Carolyn Cadman said: “We’re proud to be able to offer our customers the chance to talk to us about both our performance and our plans, and I’d like to thank everyone who attended our meeting in Sidmouth.
“We’re investing record amounts to deliver the services our customers deserve over the next five years and our WaterShare+ scheme makes sure they each have a say in what this investment ultimately looks like.”
