Movie star Easter egg-stravaganza this spring at the University of Exeter

Some of history’s most famous film characters are joining in the Easter egg-stravaganza fun as part of exciting free events at the University of Exeter.

Children can have fun enjoying incredible artefacts and take part in craft activities during the school holidays at the university’s Bill Douglas Cinema Museum and Special Collections department.

They can spot well-known cartoon characters and film icons from the past century– decorated on eggs – hidden among the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum exhibits as part of a special film-themed Easter trail. On 9 April children can play with the museum’s optical toysand have a go at making their own.

Optical toys were popular before cinema technology existed. During the session children will be able to decorate their own zoetrope strip to create their own cartoon.

On 16th April children can come and see some original medieval illuminated texts held at the University of Exeter’s Special Collections department and be inspired by the designs to create their own illuminated bookmark.

The events are suitable for children aged 5 to 14. They are free but booking is essential and young people must be accompanied by an adult.
