The City Council is seeking to revitalise the Horseguards Play Area in St James.

Members of the Thornton West Residents' Association, local children, and other users have been offering suggestions for the equipment they would like to see in the play area.

The site suffers from very poor drainage, which poses a challenge and impacts the available budget.

Ruth Williams, Lead Councillor for City Management, said:
“It was lovely to meet park users of all ages during the community engagement session. Despite the damp conditions, around 30 people braved the weather for an opportunity to chat with City Council parks staff and share their views about what they felt should be a priority for refreshing and improving the play park.

“The younger participants were particularly keen on having climbing equipment installed, while others expressed preferences for the development of shaded areas with fruit trees, seating and picnic benches near the play area, and a table tennis table!”
