Free workshop on setting up and running a community garden in Exeter

People are being invited to a free workshop on how to set up and run a community garden in Exeter.

From finding land and setting up a community organisation, to financing the garden to organising its activities through the year, the workshop will cover all the essentials to set up and care for a community growing space.

The workshop, supported by the City Council, is for anyone interested in community work and food growing, including those who already run a community garden, or dream of creating a community growing space.

It takes place on Saturday 30 November, 2pm to 5pm, at Theatre Alibi in Emmanuel Road, St Thomas, Exeter.

The event will be run by Clémence Scalbert, who set up and has run St Thomas Community Garden since 2019. She also set up Zero Mile Gardens in 2024 in St Thomas to support food growing in the community.

She has a City and Guilds Certificate in Organic Horticulture, a Gardeniser Diploma, and is an alumni of The Soil Association’s My Food Community Programme.

The workshops are supported by the Growing Communities Fund and are free. Booking is essential.
