A busy weekend for the crew of Exmouth Lifeboat
At 09.52 on Sunday 10 March H.M. Coastguard requested the launch of the RNLI Exmouth lifeboat following multiple public reports of a drifting tender.
The ILB D-805 George Bearman II launched shortly afterwards and quickly found the vessel. Having established that no-one was in danger, they then moved it to a safe location onshore.
The volunteers then returned to station at 11.00.
A few hours later H.M. Coastguard again requested the launch of the lifeboat, following a report from a concerned member of the public that a paddle boarder might be in distress.
The ILB D-805 George Bearman II launched at 14.27 with three volunteer crew onboard and rapidly established the location of the paddle boarder off Pole Sands. The individual confirmed to our crew that they were okay and satisfied that no further help was required, the lifeboat returned to station at 14.45.
The member of the public was right to raise their concern by calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard, as we would always rather launch and be stood down than risk someone being left in a dangerous situation.
