Exeter Community groups invited to apply for funding

Community groups in Exeter’s priority neighbourhoods are being invited to apply for funding from the City Council

The Council’s City Grant fund has gone live, enabling groups in certain areas to tap into much needed funds of up to £2,500.

The City Grants Fund supports groups and organisations to help run events, festivals and projects that aim to encourage community participation.

The priorities for this year’s funds are to address inequalities, improve health and wellbeing, get people active, support communities working together to address local needs, encourage volunteering, improve the area where we live, support community-based arts and cultural activities and promote digital inclusion.

This year’s Fund is for groups within Exeter’s priority neighbourhoods – areas with the highest rate of inequalities. These are:

  • Exwick
  • Redhills
  • St Thomas
  • St David’s
  • City Centre
  • Newtown
  • Mincinglake
  • Beacon Heath
  • Whipton
  • Wonford
  • Countess Wear

Cllr Matt Vizard, Lead Councillor for Climate, Ecological Change & Communities warmly welcomed the launch of the scheme.  He said: "Together with our highly valued ward grants, the city grants scheme will support groups and organisations with local projects that benefit our communities.

"I welcome the scheme's renewed focus on priority neighbourhoods and am delighted that we have been able to maintain this support despite current financial constraints.

"The Voluntary & Community Sector (VCS) is a key part of the city’s fabric, and the services and events groups and organisations deliver extraordinary value for the grant funds allocated from the Council and other sources.  The social benefit to communities is profound."
