Lovers of the spectacular annual display of bluebells at Holyford Woods near Colyford will be delighted to join East Devon District Council’s (EDDC) annual Bluebell Day.
Taking place on Sunday 20 April, visitors will be able to enjoy guided walks including plant medicine walks and guided walks around the carpet of bluebells with EDDC’s Countryside team.
Herbalist Maggie Haworth leads the first medicine walk at 11am and it must be pre-booked. Walks with the Countryside Rangers take place at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm and will last up to 90 minutes.
There will be tea and cakes for sale and the chance to enjoy some Nettle soup prepared and cooked around the campfire.
East Devon Countryside Team Manager, James Chubb, said:
"Bluebell Day is a fantastic opportunity for local residents and visitors to explore Holyford Woods. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to this special site, one which we manage throughout the year for the benefit of people and wildlife."
Parking and toilets are available at Colyford Village hall. A shuttle bus service will run from the village hall to Holyford Woods, for a small donation, from 10.45-2.30pm outbound and the last shuttle back will be at 3pm.
