Contractors begin removing scaffolding around Exmouth RNLI lifeboat station

Work has started to remove scaffolding around Exmouth RNLI lifeboat station following the completion of the roof replacement project. Volunteers look forward to welcoming visitors back to the boathouse and shop once full access is restored.

Work has begun to remove the scaffolding around Exmouth RNLI lifeboat station, as the roof replacement project is now complete. Volunteers at Exmouth RNLI are looking forward to welcoming visitors back into the boathouse and the shop, once full access has been restored.

The arrival of the crane marks the final stages of the roof renovation as the scaffolding structure is de-constructed over the course of the next three weeks.

Exmouth RNLI’s volunteer crew have continued to operate throughout the renovation process, which has included the installation of solar panels alongside the essential roof repairs. In recent weeks, whilst the final stages of the work were completed, the Exmouth RNLI relief all-weather lifeboat, Ruth and David Arthur, has been standing proudly on the slipway but is now safely back in the finished boathouse.

The sight of the Exmouth RNLI station wrapped in scaffolding has elicited significant interest from the charity’s supporters. Many have been excited to hear about the renovations and that the roof is now finished and the scaffolding is coming down. The arrival of the crane yesterday on a particularly beautiful morning means that the Exmouth RNLI lifeboat station will shortly be restored to its former glory overlooking the beach.

Once the scaffolding has been completely removed, Exmouth RNLI station is looking forward to reinstating its visits programme. The charity’s shop, which has continued to operate throughout, is also excited to be coming out of hibernation!

Alison Gall, Exmouth RNLI’s shop manager, says: ‘We have received a lot of interest about the building whilst the scaffolding has been up and, in recent weeks, customers have been very excited to hear that the project is almost over. The arrival of the crane yesterday was quite a sight, especially on such a beautiful morning. It is an exciting time for everyone who volunteers for or supports us.’
