Rail services in the region are set to be improved using cash saved on HS2
During the prime minister’s speech at the Conservative party conference in Manchester, it was announced that the HS2 extension to the city was being cancelled.
The cash saved is due to be spent on a number of transport schemes, mostly in the north and north west.
However, the devil is in the detail, as there will be funds allocated to improvements to rail services in the south-west.
Exactly what is planned has yet to be announced.
