A magnificent new sculpture has been officially unveiled at Stover Country Park following months of planning and construction.
It has been designed to represent the historic image of a horse and carriage travelling down the former Carriage Drive towards Stover House – which is now Stover School.
The sculpture was commissioned by the Friends of Stover Country Park, and the installation has been funded by the Co-op Local Community Fund.
Trustee of the Friends Emily Farrell said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the beautiful horse and carriage that the talented Nick Mussell of The Tanglewood Project has created. We hope visitors will enjoy using their imaginations to take ride down the Carriage Drive. We’d like to thank all those Co-op shoppers who kindly donated to the Project through the Co-op Local Community Fund.”
Richard Walton, Devon County Council Public Rights of Way and Country Parks Manager, said: “This beautiful sculpture is a fantastic new addition to Stover Country Park, which we’re sure will be hugely enjoyed and appreciated by visitors. Thanks to the Friends of Stover Country Park, Liverton Co-op and Nick Mussell of The Tanglewood Project for funding and creating this brilliant piece. It’s fantastic to see materials from the Park being created into a horse and carriage for everyone to enjoy.”
Members of the public are asked to enjoy sitting in the carriage, but to not climb on the horse.
