Free road safety resources available through new Community Grants scheme

Vision Zero South West is delighted to launch its new Community Road Safety Grants scheme.

With a total funding pot of over £50,000, the scheme offers a range of free resources to help improve road safety in communities across Devon & Cornwall.

The scheme is aimed at helping vulnerable road users – such as cyclists, motorcyclists, pedestrians and horse riders.

They include a range of helpful items including cameras to feed into Devon & Cornwall Police’s Op Snap, as well as high-vis PassPixi magnetic stickers for cyclists and VisiWhip flags for horse riders.

There are also items available to schools – including road safety banners, high-vis clips and tabards – as well as resources for local driving instructors, including a free years’ membership to The Honest Truth app.

Natalie Warr, Vision Zero South West partnership manager, said: “As a partnership, we work hard to improve safety for all road users across Devon & Cornwall.

“With this latest round of funding, we hope to offer useful resources to those who may not have the means to purchase them individually.

“With cameras specially designed for cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders respectively, we hope to increase reporting of poor or dangerous driving incidents through the police’s Op Snap scheme.

“We also some great resources for schools which will help improve visibility and keep safe road use at the forefront of everyone’s mind.”
