Devon and Cornwall Police have received reports of a number of scam texts being received alleging a parking fine.

Please be wary of unexpected texts or emails of any kind, whether it states it is a fine, offer of a discount specific to you, or someone asking for help. These messages often give a sense of urgency.

Please do not click on any links and be wary of any contact asking you to make a payment, download an app or purchase gift cards/vouchers, even if they state they are for family – call them to speak with them to check.

Report suspicious texts - you can forward a suspicious text on to 7726 for free to report it, remember not to respond or click any links and block the number if you can.

If you have been a victim of fraud please contact your bank/building society immediately and then report this to Action Fraud or phone 0300 123 2040.
