Exciting new era for Royal Devon’s two hospital charities

Hospital charities Over and Above and the RD&E Charity are joining forces! From December 4, the new-look charity will be known as Royal Devon Hospitals Charity. Same charity. Different name. Double the fundraising power for our local NHS!

The change follows the merger of Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust in April 2022.

Charity staff have been working hard behind the scenes to develop a new identity for the charity that will make it more relevant and recognisable, and, over time, help Royal Devon Hospitals Charity to become a household charity for anyone wanting to support the NHS in northern, mid and eastern Devon.

The charity’s Head of Fundraising, Ian Roome, said: “We’re excited to unveil our new look but before we launch to the public on December 4, we’ve organised a series of roadshows next week to give staff the opportunity to find out more about the charity, and how they can get involved.”

Come and have a chat to the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity fundraising team and take part in a free-to-enter prize raffle at the following dates and locations next week…

“As some of the biggest supporters of Royal Devon’s hospital charities, we want staff to be the first to know about our exciting news,” said Ian.

“Merging the charities has been a big project for a very small team and we’re looking forward to meeting staff and telling them more about our mission to power up and push the limits of what’s possible with NHS funding.

“Nothing has really changed other than the name. Just as before, the general public can decide where their donations go and money raised locally, stays local. There are more than 250 different funds altogether and the money you raise can go to the cause closest to you.

“Alternatively, if you’d like to raise money for general funds, we’ll ensure your donation is used to do brilliant things at our local hospitals, wherever the need is greatest.

“We’ve looked at the successes of other NHS Charities that have gone through similar mergers and rebrands, and by joining forces we’ve been able to pool our knowledge and resources. This efficiency will ultimately mean we’re spending less on administration and duplication, with more money going directly to wards and services.

“Both charities have a proven track record of delivering essential funding for our NHS but together, we want to raise even more money to buy new state-of the-art equipment; create world-class patient and staff environments; support additional staff development, training and wellbeing projects; and fund cutting-edge research.

“Our new website will be going live soon. It’s full of information about how people’s support is making a difference, and how they can get involved with new fundraising appeals we’re launching in East and North Devon. Please take a look and join our mailing list to keep up to date with all the latest charity news: www.royaldevoncharity.org.uk.”
