People are being reminded to make sure they have voter ID ready if they are voting at a polling station today.
The Country goes to the polls today for the General Election, with polling stations open from 7am until 10pm.
Everyone who votes at a polling station on the day must show photo ID. There are a number of accepted forms of ID that can be shown at the polling station. This includes:
- Passport
- Driving Licence
- Blue Badge (with a photo)
- Older Person’s Bus Pass funded by the UK Government
- Voter authority certificate
Voters will be able to use expired ID if they are still recognisable from the photo.
For a full list of accepted ID, along with more information about the requirement and details of how to apply for the free ID, go to exeter.gov.uk/voterid
Meanwhile, if you need to return your postal vote application you can do so by returning it to a polling station in your constituency between 7am and 10pm. When you return a postal vote pack by hand, you must fill in a form for the pack to be accepted.
You can return your own postal vote and up to five additional postal votes at this election from family, friends, or neighbours.
Candidates and campaigners are not allowed to collect or return postal votes on electors’ behalf.
