Households in Teignbridge will pay an extra £5.70 on their annual council tax bills to fund local services.

Teignbridge Council has almost completed its budget-setting process for the year, and plans to raise its charge by the 2.99 per cent recommended by the government.
Devon County Council adds more tax on top of that, as will town and parish councils and the fire and police services.
The district council’s share of the current council tax in Teignbridge is £190.71 per year for an average band D property. The total bill is £2,279.30 per property when other authority charges are added.
This means Teignbridge Council keeps just over eight per cent of the total bill, with Devon County Council getting 72 per cent, police 12 per cent, fire four per cent and local towns and parishes four per cent.
Teignbridge executive committee heard that a recent public consultation had found 76 per cent of people who responded were in favour of the 2.99 per cent increase.
Cllr Richard Keeling (Lib Dem, Chudleigh) said the council’s core priorities for the year ahead would be housing, climate change and jobs.
“This is what our community is asking for,” he said.
