Storm Isha is poised to unleash strong winds and heavy rainfall upon Devon today. The South West is bracing itself for yet another onslaught, as two severe weather warnings are scheduled to take effect this afternoon.
Storm Isha is making its way towards Devon, prompting a amber wind warning issued by the Met Office that covers the entire region. The warning is active from 6 pm today until 6 am tomorrow (Monday, January 22). With a yellow wind warning then in place until midday on Monday
Residents are urged to exercise caution, especially if planning any journeys during this period. Authorities recommend considering a delay in travel until weather conditions improve. The wind alert signifies the potential for hazardous wind speeds in the specified timeframe.
People are reminded of the following advice:
- Be alert to fallen trees and branches, particularly on minor roads where they may not have been reported;
- Consider if your journey is essential and be alert to weather warnings;
- Allow additional time for your journey, never drive through floodwater or swollen flowing water, you don’t know how deep it is. Find an alternative route;
- Reduce your speed and leave more space between you and the vehicle in front and leave plenty of room if you’re overtaking;
- Drive with care and according to the conditions.
- Listen to local radio for updates on current weather conditions
