EXCITEMENT BUILDS FOR OTTERTON’S 2025 GRAND
SOAP BOX DERBY
With just over a month to go Otterton’s GRAND SOAP BOX DERBY, due to take place on
Saturday 19 April from 10 a.m - 4 p.m. (subject to weather) the event is already
attracting considerable interest.
The organizers have launched their 2025 event logo and full entry details for competitors.
Entry stickers which feature the event ‘racing otter’ logo (this year in a green helmet) have
gone on early sale today from now in local locations including the village’s Kings Arms pub
and the Otterton Village Shop. They are £2 each and can also be purchased on the day.
Children under 5 can attend for free).
Money raised from the event will go to upgrading Otterton’s children’s play park.
The 2025 derby will take place over two connected fields at Stantyway Farm, Otterton,
EX9 which will provide spectators unparalleled views of the entire course. The main
competition is for distance but organizers are intending a speed element at this year’s
event. A number of sponsors have already joined the line-up for the event. Those seeking
to enter soap boxes should do so quickly as entries are on a first-come first served basis
and they should also check entry rules. The cost per entry is £20 but junior entires (Under
16) are free.

Comments Otterton Village Council Leader Ian Simpson:
“We were truly amazed by the fantastic and considerable interest last year when we
rekindled the event so associated with Otterton after some 40 years. This year we have
come up with a new course that will permit spectators to be able to have sight of the entire
event from the the starting area. Given the quality and number of entries last year we
anticipate some exciting entries for 2025 and can’t wait to see them.”
